Amanda Brugel

Pointe Claire in Montreal's West Island is a tiny little town that is a bit sleepy. It is a bit of a mystery as the West Island can be confusing for those who aren't familiar to its significance. Many people believe that it's an island to the to the west of Montreal, but it is actually a part of the city. West Island encompasses everything between the two cities that are Lachine and West. Amanda Brugel grew up on the West Island, and it is frequently known as the place where she was born. However, she only stayed there for a short duration. Brugel was raised in Courtice close to Oshawa Ontario. She aspired to be a professional dancer but due to a rapid increase in her height, she outgrew every dance partner she met. In an article published in The Toronto Star she admitted In heels, I'm 6'1 inch. When I grew out of my male counterparts, I gave up. Bruce was among the former dancers who turned to acting. The teacher she had at high school was the one who pushed her in the right direction. A teacher suggested that she audition for an annual school play. She tried out and ended up playing the leading role for the role in Anne of Green Gables. It led to an Fine Arts Talent Scholarship at York University where she attended the Theater Program and graduated with an Associate of Fine Arts degree in the year 2000. Her career spans twenty years, and she's performed in more than 60 shows that have screened on large screens as well as smaller screens. Her most recognizable role was that of Rita (pictured below) on The Handmaid's Tale. Brugel was only seen on a few occasions in the first season of The Handmaid's Tale.
